Meet the “Superfish”

For almost two decades, I’ve had the pleasure of writing teacher guides for Thirteen/WNET, a flagship PBS station in New York City. This May, they hired me to write an online lesson for grades 5-8 called Superfish, connected to a NATURE documentary by the same name. The show and web site focus on the remarkable work of Rick Rosenthal, a marine biologist and underwater cameraman, who studies some of the biggest and fastest fish in the ocean—sailfish, swordfish and the marlin. Even if you’re not in the “ed biz” (as Tom Lehrer once referred to his profession), you might get a kick out of seeing some of the short, impressive video clips of these mighty underwater creatures.
